NATIONAL STREET HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

DIVISIONS: A&B-PENGUIN, A&B-BEAVER, A&B-CADET, FRESHMAN
AGE: (7-9 YRS) (10-12
YRS) (13-15YRS) (16-19 YRS)
ELIGIBILITY: JANUARY
1, 2009 the player’s age on this date determines what level he is eligible to
compete in. Proof of age is MANDATORY
Birth certificates are required (Photo copies will be accepted).
TEAMS: Each
team must have a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 18 players. Players may only
play for one team in the same division.
Each
team will play a minimum of 3 games with the opportunity to advance to the
quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals.

PRIZES: There
will be Team Trophies for the Champions and runner-ups both in A & B
divisions; the champions and runner-up in each division will receive individual
Trophies.
RULES: We
draw your attention to the following rules in particular.
1)
FIGHTING is forbidden at any time during, after or in
between games. First offense is a Major penalty and a game misconduct and
suspension from the following game. Second offense is expulsion from the
tournament.
a.
EXCEPTION in the Freshman Division one fight and the
player or coach is expelled from the tournament.
2)
Body Checking will not be allowed
3)
No Aluminum Sticks are permitted, sticks must be
street hockey or ABS
PROTECTIVE
EQUIPMENT: 1) Matching shirts properly numbered.
2) Matching shin pads worn on the
outside of clothing.
4)
Elbow Pads are recommended.
5)
Gloves must be some type of Street Hockey or Ice
Hockey glove, no garden gloves or bike gloves will be permitted.
6)
Protective cups are optional but recommended.
7)
Helmets and Face guards are mandatory for all levels.
8)
Goalies must wear a facemask with a helmet or back
skull plate, goalie pads, chest protector, and protective cup.
PLAYERS
NOT HAVING THE PROPER EQUIPMENT WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PLAY.

TOURNAMENT RULES
1.
Points a team
will receive 10 pts for a win, 7 pts for up to a 7 goal differential, and 3
points for a shut out for a maximum of 20 pts. A team will receive 5 pts for a
tie.
2.
In the round
robin games a coin flip at the beginning of each game will determine the home
team, the home team will have choice of goal defended and players bench. When
the Quarterfinals start the higher seated team has choice of goal defended and
players bench.
3.
If a tie
occurs in any of the quarter, semi, of finals, a sudden death ten-minute
overtime will be played until there is a winner.
4.
Periods- 3
periods 10 minutes each with clock stopping. Clock will run any time a goal
differential of eight (8) is reached.
5.
Ties for
positioning in the playoff rounds are broken as follows, Head to Head,
Goals against, Goals for.
6.
There will be
1 time-out per game allowed. And 1 in Over-time
7.
No player may
be added to the roster once it is turned in at registration.
8.
If games are
running behind the next game will start 5 minutes after the preceding game.
9.
Icing will be
from the defensive dots.
10.
Two line
passes and lobs are permitted.
11.
Games will be
played with a delayed off sides in effect.
12.
Gloves must be
Street Hockey or Ice Hockey gloves No garden or bike gloves.
13.
Elbow pads and
protective cups are recommended but not required.
14.
All calls by
the referee will be final. All protests must be made before play is continued.
15.
Sticks No
aluminum sticks will be permitted, sticks must be street hockey or ABS
16.
Penalties
minor 1 minute, Major 3 Minutes and Misconduct 5 Minutes.
17.
Fighting will
not be tolerated-1st fight = game misconduct and next game
suspension, 2nd fight= exclusion from the tournament (EXCEPTION:
Freshmen 1st fight exclusion from the tournament).
18.
Three minor
penalties= exclusion from the remainder of that game.
19.
Conduct of
Players, Coaches, and Fans: Abusive language by a player, coach or fan towards
a referee, opposing player, another spectator, or any tournament official will
not be tolerated. The guilty party will be asked to leave the premises, if they
refuse penalties will be give to the team in question, or possibly forfeit the
team out of the tournament with no refund.
20.
Forfeits, if a
team receives a forfeit they will receive a minimum of 14 points, and possibly
more to be determined by tournament officials.
21.
There will be
a 10-minute forfeit time.
22.
Alcoholic
beverages are strictly prohibited.
23.
The NSHA committee will strictly enforce these rules.
24.
NEW
RULE to qualify as a B-team for towns that have one team not entering the A
division. (1) you must only have four players of the older age of that division
9’s 12’s 15’s year olds. Or (2) you must play in at least three prior
tournaments this season to be evaluated to compete as a B-team.
